Don't Tamper With Your Standards!
I wrote in my blog yesterday, hoping my next entry would be on Monday telling you guys what an awesome time I had at the movies. Instead... I am writing the very next day.. Why?? Because the dude texted me saying, "Sorry, but I need to cancel. I think you're pretty, but I found someone who's more suited for me". I don't get it.. Did he find another bus driver?
The reason why the title of this blog is Don't Tamper with Your Standards, is because I feel like I lowered my standard for this guy and he still disappointed. I mean yes, I did get a free meal out of it, but I still didn't get a second date. There were yellow-red flags that were going up, but didn't mention them in the previous blog just in case there was a third date..
Things I looked past on:
Education
It is important for me the guy is educated, not that those with a degree are smarter, but it shows that they can commit to something and they can move up in their career.
Bus Driver he did not have a degree, he finished police college, but didn't do anything with it; he's 37 and therefore can't get in the force. I asked him what his next 5 years looked like in terms of career, he said he didn't know. He can't get into management or an executive level with the city because he doesn't have a degree. He's been a driver for 9 years and would have made a great manager, but because no degree and he "doesn't like the politics". That I think is a lack of motivation because most work places will look past the fact that you don't have a degree because you have been with the company for a long time you know the ropes (not at the executive level though). "Doesn't like the politics"? I'm sorry.. Last time I checked being a CIVIL servant MEANS you're part of the political system!
Since he doesn't watch TV, I asked him if he read books. He said he did, he was into self improvement books and military books. I asked him if he has read Shaking Hands with the Devil and he goes onto to telling me he's not book smart but street smart. Not too sure what Romeo Dallaire's book has to do with being book smart?! It's a military book based on the war in Rwanda.. Then he goes onto to telling me he read a bit of it and couldn't finish it.
He did mention his dad was well off.. maybe he's just waiting for his inheritance?!
Friends
The person that I am with should have their own group of close friends.
He's from a small city up north and came down when he was young. He's been in Mississauga/Brampton for almost 20 years and doesn't really have friends. Most of his friends are girls and the guy friends he has are from a small group of guys who critique fragrances on youtube... He even went on POF to find new guy friends..
Saying you're not a homophob makes you homophob??
He's mentioned more than a few times how he's comfortable with gay people.... That's fine you're fine with them but I don't know why he's said it so many times... Is he???
Sober
I'm not saying I'm am alcoholic, but I do enjoy a glass of wine here and there. This guy doesn't drink AT ALL!! Which meant I couldn't bring my special drink to the theatres without him judging me.
Urban Gal
I am clearly an urban gal! My blog's name is Online Dating In the City! NOT Online Dating in the Country or the Suburbs (although I do live in the suburbs).
He's mentioned how he would like to move back up north. I asked him what he would do there and he said, "I don't know, but I would like to raise my family there" in a later conversation I asked him if he wanted kids he said "no" (SOOOO.. then how are you going to raise your family up north?) Sudbury is a mining city, unless he's going to be like the seven dwarfs and work in the mines, I guess the only thing for him to do is be a bus driver!

There may have been more things I may have looked past, but I don't remember them. The reason why I looked past some of this stuff was because my friends tell me my standards are too high, I don't give guys a chance, and the famous "you never know..."
Either way, I am just having bad luck with online dating and dating in general.. I guess whomever I have that second date with will be truly special! Bus Driver was a good guy, but I guess not the right guy for me!
Onto the next one!
